Domestic Violence
South Park Primary School fully supports 'The Freedom Programme' which is a group for women who have experienced domestic abuse. The programme helps attendees to understand what happened to them, how it happened, and then to move forward confidently into the future.
The Freedom Programme aims to:
- Increase women's ability to take control of their lives;
- Illustrate the effects of living with domestic abuse on children;
- Help women identify and enforce their personal boundaries;
- Assist women to recognise potential future abusers;
- Understand domestic abuse and the beliefs help by perpetrators, and
- Enable women to gain self-esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives.
Groups are run in 12-weekly sessions and are free. South Park Primary School occasionally hosts these groups and Gaynor White (Wellbeing Leader) gwhite@spps.org.uk holds more information or can signpost you to your nearest group.
